Private label is one of those terms that gets used a lot in wholesale but is not always explained clearly. Buyers sometimes assume it means something more complicated or more expensive than it actually is. Others assume it is only for large brands with big budgets. Neither is quite right.
This post explains what private label means in the context of handcrafted bag manufacturing, what it includes when you work with us, and what to realistically expect from the process.
"Private label simply means the bags carry your brand — not ours. Everything else about how they are made remains the same."
What Private Label Actually Means
At its most basic, private label means that the product is manufactured by one company and sold under another company's brand. When you order private label bags from us, you receive finished bags that carry your logo, your label, and your packaging — with no mention of Finesse Bags Export anywhere on the product.
For boutique owners and retailers, this means you can build your own product line without owning a factory, employing artisans, or managing a production facility. The bags are made to your specifications, carry your branding, and your customers have no reason to know — or need to know — where they were manufactured.
This is a completely standard and legitimate practice across the fashion and retail industry. Most brands, at some point in their supply chain, rely on manufacturing partners.
What Is Included in Private Label at Finesse Bags Export
When buyers ask about private label, they often mean slightly different things. Here is what we include and what is available:
What It Does Not Mean
A few things that private label does not automatically include — worth being clear about upfront:
- It does not mean unlimited customisation at no extra cost. Standard branding — woven label, hang tag, basic packaging — is included. More complex requests like custom hardware shapes, bespoke lining prints, or entirely new constructions involve additional sampling cost and time.
- It does not mean the design is exclusively yours unless agreed. If you order a style from our existing range with your label on it, we may sell that same base style to other buyers. If you want exclusivity on a design, that needs to be discussed and agreed separately.
- It does not mean instant turnaround. Branding elements need to be produced — woven labels take 1–2 weeks to manufacture. Factor this into your timeline alongside sampling and production.
How the Private Label Process Works
The process is straightforward. Here is how it typically goes:
- Step 1 — You share your brief. Style references, your logo file (ideally vector format — AI, EPS, or high-res PDF), and any packaging preferences. If you do not have a logo file ready, a high-resolution image works to start.
- Step 2 — We confirm what is feasible. We come back with a quote that includes branding costs, production cost per piece, and an estimated timeline. No surprises after this stage.
- Step 3 — Sample with branding. Before bulk production, we produce a sample with your actual label and hang tag attached. You approve this before we proceed.
- Step 4 — Bulk production. Once the branded sample is approved and the advance payment is received, production begins. Your branding elements are manufactured in parallel.
- Step 5 — Packing and shipment. Bags are packed with your branding in place — labels stitched, hang tags attached, packaging applied. They leave our facility ready for your shelves.
